Deckstorm: Duel of the Guardians is Dena’s latest attempt at ruling the collectible card game genre and it has now been launched for both Android and iOS devices. Deckstorm is a fantasy collectible card game with a twist: where you battle in waves instead of playing on a common playing field like Hearthstone or Magic: The Gathering. Other game systems such as adding initiative to battle, card health and puzzle like elements make the game much more complex than your usual card game.
Based on what i have seen by playing the iOS version, the art is fantastic and the pace is excellent. You really need to plan and strengthen your whole deck rather than just have a few heavy hitters. The connection in multiplayer drops from time to time but matches are easy to come by, which is good as some resources are only available via PVP. Some improvements would be better spell effects and systems which only digital card games can do such more complex card interactions. Not that the game isn’t already complex enough. Solo play and PVP are both available and have their own set of rewards, doing both will get you more access to resources to strengthen your deck
There are also lots of events that are time based and level completion based that hopefully it wont a chore to keep track of all of what’s happening in the game in the next few months. I am looking forward to when my deck is able to take on some of the more tougher dungeons though.
Time will tell if Deckstorm will be one of Dena’s greatest card games but if you’re a player based in the Philippines, join us in the Deckstorm Philippines Community page on Facebook. See you there!
