Originally released as an arcade game, Tekken is considered by many to be one of the best fighting games ever developed. It was famously in an ironic battle against Mortal Kombat for the number-one spot, and since becoming available on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox systems, Tekken is revamped and ready to kick some serious tail with this, the now-sixth installment.
This isn’t online gambling with a few cheesy graphics and sound effects we’re talking about. Tekken on Xbox brings the kind of graphics and game-play that 35-year-old former arcade goers salivate over, and that an entirely new generation of seventh generation console players get to lose themselves in.
Tekken 6 became available on October 27 of this year, but it has been in the Japanese arcades since 2007. New advancements to Tekken’s game-play include a brand new and unique “rage” system that allows players do more damage, as well as other unique features and far superior graphics to any previous version.
The plot of Tekken 6 follows Jin Kazama’s reign of the Mishima Zaibatsu after winning the previous tournament. Power has corrupted Jin, however, and he has ambitions to take over the world. His father, Kazuya Mishima, puts a bounty on his son’s head, hoping to stop Jin from this takeover. Kazuya shares the same one-world-rule dreams, and he will not let his son get in the way. Jin gets word of the bounty and sets up the sixth installment of the King of the Iron Fist tournament, hoping to defeat his father.
Gamers will get access to all their favorite Tekken characters from the past, plus plenty more new and exciting characters. All told, there will be 42 characters to choose from in Tekken and also more game modes to choose from.
The Xbox/PS3 version of Tekken should definitely be worth playing.
