Strixhaven Draft, Set and Collector Booster Pack Information

Strixhaven: School of Mages is Magic: The Gathering’s newest expansion set and with it comes a few questions from MTG veterans and newbies alike, such as: Ever wondered what’s the difference between Collectors Boosters, Set Boosters or Draft Boosters? What are the contents of Japanese booster packs of MTG Strixhaven? What kind of cards can I get from collectors packs/boxes? We’ve got answers for you down below:

Strixhaven Booster Box - Magic The Gathering

STRIXHAVEN DRAFT BOOSTERS
Each Strixhaven draft booster has 15 Magic cards and will contain the following:

  • 1x Rare or mythic rare
  • 1x Mystical Archive card (uncommon, rare, or mythic rare)
  • 1x Lesson card (common, rare, or mythic rare)
  • 3x Uncommons
  • 9x Commons
  • 1x Common card replaced by a foil card of any rarity* in 1 out of 3 boosters

*This includes global Mystical Archive card versions in all non-Japanese Set Boosters. Both global and Japanese alternate-art Mystical Archive cards will be found in in Japanese Boosters.)

What’s in a Japanese Strixhaven Draft Booster?
Mostly the same as English Draft Boosters except the Mystical Archive card is a Japanese alt-art variant Mystical Archive card in 50 percent of boosters. A traditional foil card of any rarity replaces a Common in 33 percent of Strixhaven Draft Boosters, and a traditional foil Mystical Archive Mythic Rare can be found in less than 1 percent of packs. Each Strixhaven draft booster box will come with 36 booster packs.


STRIXHAVEN SET BOOSTERS
Each Set Booster pack contains 12 Magic cards, including:

  • 1x Mystical Archive card (Uncommon, Rare, or Mythic Rare)
  • 1x Lesson card (Common, Uncommon, Rare, or Mythic Rare)
  • 1x Rare or Mythic Rare, 1 foil of any rarity
  • 1x Wild Card of any rarity
  • 6 assorted Commons or Uncommons that are thematically connected (with Commons connected to other Commons and Uncommons connected to other Uncommons),
  • 1 Land card
  • 1 Art Card and 1 Ad/Token or special card from Magic‘s history (a card from “The List”). A foil-stamped Signature Art Card replaces the Art Card in 5 percent of Set Boosters, and a card from The List replaces the Ad/Token in 25 percent of Set Boosters.

What’s in Japanese Strixhaven Set Booster Packs?
Mostly the same as English set boosters except the Mystical Archive slot as described above is a Japanese alt-art variant Mystical Archive card in 50 percent of boosters. A foil-stamped Signature Art Card replaces the Art Card in 5 percent of Set Boosters, and a card from The List replaces the Ad/Token in 25 percent of Set Boosters.

Of the 2x foil-etched Mystical Archive cards you get in Collector boosters, one will always be the version global and the other will always be the Japanese alternate-art version. Collector booster packs are available individually or in booster boxes of 12.
Given the numerous chances of getting something really exclusive, it seems like collector boosters are your best bet of obtaining the rarest versions of these Strixhaven Mystical Archive cards.

  • 1x Foil-etched Mystical Archive rare or mythic rare
  • 1x Foil-etched Mystical Archive uncommon
  • 1x foil Mystical Archive (global or Japanese alternate-art version) rare or mythic rare, borderless mythic rare, or extended-art rare or mythic rare
  • 1x foil Mystical Archive uncommon
  • 1x Extended-art rare or mythic rare, or a borderless mythic rare
  • 1x Extended-art Commander (2021 Edition) rare or mythic rare
  • 1x Traditional foil Lesson cards
  • 1x Traditional foil rare or mythic rare
  • 2x Traditional foil uncommons
  • 5x Traditional foil commons
  • 1x Traditional foil token (double-sided)
