Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami and No More Heroes designer Goichi Suda made public in 2008 that they were making a new game together. Now, Japanese game mag Famitsu says that the EA published title has a name: Shadow of the Damned.
This collaboration between Mikami Suda is actually titled “Shadow of the “Shadow of the DAMNED” (note the caps). The protagonist is a demon killer, and the game uses an over-the-shoulder third-person point-of-view. Doesnt this sound like Capcom’s own Dante of Devil May Cry fame? Yep, expect Shadows of the Damned to be a action horror game.
Due out next year, Shadows of the Damned is slated for release on the PS3 and the Xbox 360.

Shadows of the Damned is the upcoming collaboration between Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami and No More Heroes designer Goichi Suda of Grasshopper Manufacture.
The game follows a hero — a self-described “hunter of demons” — named Garcia Hotspur as he goes to hell to save his true love. However, Suda is clear to point out that this is not a romance game. He is battling the evil of hell.
Mikami says this is a “stylish” game with Suda’s trademark punk rock edge, a “psychological action thriller.” Since the setting is hell, the game cannot be easy. Suda says that the game is intense, but there are some light moments.
The title is long, so Suda is encouraging people to simply refer to the game as “Damned.” Or, Suda asked, call it “DMD.” Do not abbreviate it SotD, he requested.
According to Suda, “This is one of the greatest games I have ever worked on.” Joining Mikami and Suda on the project is Silent Hill music director Akira Yamaoka.
Shadows of the Damned will be released on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in 2011.
