BIRD STUDIO/SHUEISHA, TOEI ANIMATION has announced that Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol is set for production. After a long wait, Dragon Ball fans are hoping to see some new and dynamic DBS animation coming from the studio.
Anime Overview
- Story: The anime will focus on the “Galactic Patrol Prisoner Arc” (also known as the “Moro Arc”) from the Dragon Ball Super manga.
- Plot: Goku and Vegeta join the Galactic Patrol, the peacekeepers of the galaxy, to confront a powerful new enemy: the ancient and dangerous “Planet-Eater” Moro, a sorcerer who escaped after being imprisoned for 10 million years.
- Production: The series is currently in production, with no official release date announced yet. Some sources speculate a late 2026 or early 2027 release.
- Creative Team: Akio Iyoku, the executive producer of the Dragon Ball franchise, confirmed the project and stated the team is working hard on it. Hans Zimmer (what?!) is composing the music for the reveal video.
Jan. 25, 2026 (JAPAN) – Today, at “Dragon Ball Genkidamatsuri”, an event held at Makuhari Messe in Japan to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Dragon Ball, it was announced during the opening stage, “Exclusive Announcements! GENKIDASTAGE Part 1,” that the newest arc in the franchise, Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol, is officially set for production. Stay tuned as Dragon Ball continues to reach new heights!
Today, at “Dragon Ball Genkidamatsuri,” the Dragon Ball 40th Anniversary event being held at Makuhari Messe, Ms. Masako Nozawa, voice of Son Goku, and Mr. Akio Iyoku, the Executive Producer of the Dragon Ball series, attended the opening stage entitled “Exclusive Announcements GENKIDASTAGE Part 1.” There, a surprise announcement was made about the production starting for Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol.
This will be the story following the “Universe Survival Arc” of the anime Dragon Ball Super, which aired between 2015 and 2018. It also appears in the manga as the “Galactic Patrol Prisoner Arc.” The main character, Son Goku, and Vegeta, work together with the members of the Galactic Patrol, the peacekeepers of the galaxy, to begin a SUPER scale battle against a new enemy, “Planet-Eater” Moro!
