A New 2026 Special Expansion
Pokémon TCG: Mega Evolution Ascended Heroes is the first major English set of 2026. The set is launching on January 30, 2026 as a special expansion focused on Mega Evolution cards and new Pokémon ex strategies. This set adapts content from Japan’s Mega Dream ex release, giving global fans fresh Mega Pokémon ex and other powerful cards. Unlike standard expansions, Ascended Heroes will be distributed through specialty products instead of traditional booster boxes, with products rolling out from January through April 2026.
Card Roster and New Mechanics
The set is one of the largest ever released, featuring over 290 cards, including 13 Mega Evolution Pokémon ex, 6 Tera Pokémon ex, and numerous Trainer cards. It also introduces the new Mega Attack Rare rarity, which showcases attack names in Japanese katakana on stunning artwork. Notable cards teased so far include Mega Dragonite ex as the set mascot, with Mega Charizard Y ex and Mega Gengar ex among the expected chase cards.
Product Rollout and Highlights
Ascended Heroes will launch with several product types:
– Ascended Heroes Collection boxes on January 30, featuring promo cards and booster packs.
– Elite Trainer Boxes on February 20, containing nine booster packs and accessories.
– Premium Poster Collections and Booster Bundles in March and April, with exclusive promos like Mega Lucario ex, Mega Gardevoir ex, and Gen II starter Mega ex cards.
This staggered release approach will look to build anticipation and appeal to both collectors chasing rarities and players seeking new deck options for 2026 play.
