Darkhaven

Darkhaven announced for PC

Darkhaven is a new isometric action RPG for PC from former Diablo and Diablo II developers. It will notably feature procedurally generated areas, destructible environments, and multiplayer support.

Darkhaven is is being developed by the team at Moon Beast Productions. The development team consists of veterans who previously worked at Blizzard Entertainment and contributed to games like Diablo and Diablo II.

Release date is not yet available, Moon Beast Productions says it will crowdfund the project via Kickstarter and more information will be provided in the near future. They describe Darkhaven as a game that revolves around a “persistent, fully dynamic world.”

Darkhaven features the following systems:

  • Dynamic Areas and will have an open world
  • Destructible environments, like Minecraft
  • World Persistence, remembering your actions
  • Solo and multiplayer gameplay
  • Strategic layer of combat
  • Unique loot and items that will determine your build

In Darkhaven, You are free to jump, climb, swim, and dash, making verticality and movement part of the experience. You can scale a wall to gain a height advantage or use a well-timed jump to evade projectiles and attacks. This makes your skill just as important as your stats.

The result is combat that is never a mindless grind. To match your skill, the monster AI has distinct behaviors and unique abilities; they don’t just rush you in a mass. You must learn to read your opponents and utilize situational skills. Victory depends on your positioning, you can pull a high-priority threat into melee range or dash to reposition for a killing blow,

I am very excited for this game and i hope the devs will get a chance to polish and finetune it. Hopefully Darkhaven will carve it’s own identity in the crowded ARPG space.
