Product recognition is more important to consumers of Wii software than game quality, according to analyst Michael Pachter. The Nintendo DSi will be released in the U.S. on April 5 and priced at US$169.99. The new Nintendo DS will be available at launch with 2 colors : black and the new color blue. The DSi, which has been on sale in Japan since November 2008, has only been available in black and white. [...]

The holidays were really successful for Nintendo as the company sold 3.04 million Nintendo DS handhelds during the month of December 2008. They also end the year with the Wii as the top-selling console in the United States, blowing the console competition far behind. US 2009 Holidays hardware sales after the jump.

Looks like Nintendo and Sony cant help but talk about the next next-generation of consoles. Sony is still battling it out with Microsoft for the second spot this generation while the Wii (and the DS) has Nintendo comfortably in the lead.
