Robert Jordan’s Wheel of Time is going to be a Movie! Reports have come in that Universal Pictures has acquired the movie rights to the late Robert Jordan’s bestselling “The Wheel of Time” fantasy novel series in a seven-figure deal.

Adaptations of the fantasy tomes will begin with the first book in the cycle, “The Eye of the World.” Rick Selvage and Larry Mondragon will produce for Red Eagle Entertainment, which published graphic novel adaptations of Jordan’s books.

From the creators of Lineage 2 comes a new martial arts MMORPG called Blade and Soul. Powered by the Unreal 3 Engine, Blade and Soul does look like NCSoft’s own MMO Aion, albeit a bit upgraded visually. Blade & Soul is around 20-50 per cent complete, according to a translated interview with art director Kim Hyung-Taek and director Bae Jae-Hyun, and will be PC-exclusive. A western or English release is unconfirmed.

“It seems that somebody has been sticking their sword into the wrong dungeon. The story goes that an Age of Conan player summoned a GM and convinced them to engage in a little “role-playing”. The GM then took the player to a more secluded portion of the game world and (after a bit of hemming and hawing) proceeded to describe an adult scenario in graphic detail.

Best of all? The whole thing is a setup. Shortly after things get really hot and heavy, the player reveals that he lied about his gender before screaming, “THIS IS SPARTA!” and announcing that he has AIDS. It’s times like this where I have to thank God for the creation of the internet.“

Is Bioware bringing the hit Xbox 360 and PC sci-fi RPG Mass Effect to Nintendo’s portable cash cow?
Speaking exclusively to Eurogamer Germany, Miles Holmes, lead designer of Sonic Chronicles, said the developer was looking at “basically anything that reinforces the franchises”.

“I tell you which one I would want. I want the Mass Effect one,” said Holmes, no relation to Sherlock.

“We have a lot of big plans for Mass Effect. Having a DS version would be an awesome way to keep interest alive and keep it going in addition to [Mass Effect 2].”
