Acer 5583WxMi Review
Thanks to the good folks over at Silicon Valley Alabang Town Center for the laptop. I was already considering a Toshiba with a Core Solo, X700, 15″ screen plus a copper outer case but decided to go for the Core 2 Duo, 1GB Ram, 120GB HDD, Super Multi Drive RW and 7300 Go equipped Acer 5583WxMi.
I had a ftp client, Internet Explorer 7 with multiple tabs, a couple of IM and disk management apps in the background plus World of Warcraft running simultaneously and i didnt experience any slowdown whatsoever.
World of Warcraft is definitely playable and runs smoothly, The Acer’s screen does wonders to already beautiful games. Civilization 4 and Warlords runs excellent as well on High Settings, even zooming in and out of the world is a breeze compared to my old lappy with an integrated GPU. The 7300 has native DirectX 9c and Shader Model 3.0 support, Perfect for Vista as well.
Here are the 3DMark scores and Super Pi 2M score of the Acer 5583WMXi:
3DMark01: 11500 points
3DMark03: 3750 points
3DMark05: 1600+ points
3DMark06: 700+ points
Super Pi 2M: 1 min 20secs
I like the fact that the exhaust port and expansion ports are on the right instead of the left. Plus the widescreen is just fantastic. The power supply has a small footprint which is always nice plus the Acer 5583 is well built. No cheap casing here, folks.
